Emergency Therapy for MH Protocol Poster Revision Date

Blurb from the Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (MHAUS) regarding the 2018/2019 Emergency Therapy for MH Protocol Poster Revision Dates

MHAUS recently (October 2018) reviewed and revised the MH Operating Room Protocol Poster - as we do every 2-3 years to assure it is up-to-date and correct.

We then realized that the MH Hotline International telephone number was listed as “outside the US” rather than “outside North America”.  The MH Hotline number within North America was there.

We made the quick change from “US” to “North America” and incorporated it in the next supply order.  The supplier decided to update the “revision date” to February 2019, although the change was not impactful.  We were not advised of the result and noted the date change when we received them in house.

We have been hearing concerns from various facilities that they will not be compliant if they have the 2018 version and not the 2019 version.  To assure we were correct in our assumption that there would be no repercussions with the 2018 version; the various regulatory agencies were asked for their opinion.

All replied as of May 2, 2019 that there should be no concern and the 2018 version would have no impact on a finding.  The patient care information is correct and the phone numbers are clear.
