The most notable and important of MHAUS’ services is the MH Hotline. The Hotline provides medical professionals with access to MH experts who can be reached for help with MH crises treatment 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. MH Hotline Consultants, as these specialists are called, provide added expertise and support to medical professionals in successfully managing an MH crisis or to answer pre, post or intraoperative anesthesia questions.
MH Hotline Consults volunteer their time and expertise in addition to their regular duties to make this needed service possible.
The MH Hotline accepts emergency calls only, calls that are clinical in nature or for mock drill training should contact MHAUS’ main office at 1-800-986-4287, between 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
While there is no charge to use the MH Hotline during emergencies, MHAUS contracts with a poison control center to facilitate the connecting of calls to MH Hotline Consultants. The service costs $35 for each call, and on average three calls are received each day.
The MH Hotline service is funded in-part by corporate and association grants, sales of MH educational materials, and through membership to MHAUS.
