• Caffeine Halothane Contracture Test (CHCT)
  Muscle biopsies for CHCT must be performed at one of the designated CHCT testing centers because the test must be performed on fresh tissue. CHCT cannot be performed on muscle samples sent via the mail.

  Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes codes are numbers assigned to every task and service a medical practitioner may provide to a patient including medical, surgical and diagnostic services. These are the codes used to describe the Caffeine Halothane Contracture Test.

• Molecular Genetics Test
  Genetic testing is often helpful in determining whether a patient is predisposed to a medical condition. However, as with any test, either the patient or his/her insurance company must pay for the test. The cost of the test varies depending on the amount of work involved and on the fee schedule of the laboratory.

  These centers comply to the standardization protocol for the Caffeine Halothane Contracture Test (CHCT) that resulted from ten conferences held 11/87, 11/89, 6/90, 11/91, 9/94, 9/98, 3/01, 9/02, 6/04 and 9/07.
