My husband had genral anaesthesia for a minor surgical procedure. 1.He had muscle rigidity(doctor couldnt insert the tube in his throat) during anaesthesia and so they cancelled the surgical procedure. 2.He had rapidly rising temperature(it rose to 103 within 45-50minutes) during the recovery period. Also his heart rate rose rapidly. 3.The anaestheologist had given him the same medication and same dosage as he had given to my husband last time.Last time my husband had no problems during the surgical procedure. Please let me know whether this could be MH. The doctors had no idea of what had happened and observed him for 24hrs and discharged him . Please let me know whether this could be MH. Kindly anyone answer this thread as he has to undergo a same surgery as soon as possible.

Thanks, vanitha.

This very well could have been because of mh those are the symptoms before going into cardiac arrest. He should have the biopsy if he thinks there is a chance of mh in his family. My whole family has mh

Those are signs of MH. Many patients do not trigger on the first exposure to trigger agents. This may indeed be MH. Consult one of the biopsy center directors for further evaluation
