i am from the UK and 3 years ago i had surgery - i know i had a problem with the gelifusion they gave me-(the op should have taken an hour and i woke in recovery 6 hours later) i have a long standing problem with pork allergy. 9 months ago i had follow up surgery. when i spoke to he dr in clinic he kept telling me i had aneasetic probelems previously and was at risk, i told him i knew i had had problems with the gelifusion and was no risk if i was not given this again - he agreed. when i spoke to the aneathisist before surgery she looked at my notes and the colour drained - i was late into theatre - because the filters were changed on the gas machine and i know i was given profofal (sp) and nitreous. there were 3 aneathisists in theature and the fluids i was given were put through a cooler. 6 weeks later a reletive had a MH attack when having a routine spinal op.... they could not bring her round for several days and she had memory loss (could not remember her children had grown up and married and her grand children) it has taken her months to recover or relearn the last ten years...... nothing has been said to her about testing or a family condition, my dr has no information that any thing may be amiss - DO I HAVE REASON TO BE WORRIED!!!
help please.
