MEDICAL ID PROGRAM
The Malignant Hyperthermia Association is always working on ways to ensure better services for MH-susceptible patients. Along with our other services - drug wallet cards, warning letters and MHS alert kit - MHAUS is offers MH patients complete medical identification items. This program is being developed because we have a personal interest in MH and have designed this program for MHS members. This Medical ID Program will allow:
- Medical professionals to obtain medical details from your confidential record, including disorders, allergies, physician contact and/or family contact.
- Emergency service easier than any other medical emergency service in handling an MH episode.
- The only service which will directly connect your attending physician to an MHAUS Physician Hotline Consultant. All other services will only give you our hotline phone number to call and some are de-emphasizing that service.
- No Annual Fee.
- You to share in the good feeling of supporting MHAUS, the only organization whose primary goal is to reduce the loss of life and ensure the best level of care for MHS patients.
HOW THE MEDICAL ID PROGRAM WORKS
- Your ID emblem is engraved with an ID number, MH susceptible, other conditions or allergies and the 24-hour MH Hotline number.
- Medical professionals will have direct access to Hotline Consultants who are well versed in malignant hyperthermia.
- Your emergency contact information will be available to medical professionals upon request.
- You can update your record anytime free of charge, by fax (607) 674-7910, by mail to MHAUS, PO Box 1069, Sherburne NY 13460, or by e-mail to info@mhaus.org.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this ID tag be as readily recognized by medical professionals?
Yes! We are using standard medical identification tags.
What if I have more than just MH listed on my ID tag. Do I need two ID tags?
No, we will keep a medical record for you with the name of your family physician and phone number to handle your other conditions.
I already have an identification tag. Is it necessary for me to buy a new one from MHAUS?
You should seriously consider purchasing a new ID tag through MHAUS. Our Medical ID Program will save time in an emergency situation by giving medical professionals direct access to a Hotline Consultant.
How long does delivery take?
You will receive your new medical ID in approximately TWO TO FOUR WEEKS. In the meantime, you should continue to wear your existing ID tag. If you do not currently wear an ID tag, we strongly suggest you put a note in your wallet advising an attending physician to contact MHAUS at 1-800-644-9737 in case of an emergency or, if outside the U.S., 1-315-464-7079.
Why have we developed this program?
MHAUS continues to search for better ways to serve its members. We recognize that in an MH emergency situation, an MH Hotline Consultant may need to be accessed immediately. In order to accomplish this, we needed to develop a Medical ID Program that allows callers direct access to our number with immediate patching to our MH Consultants.
What if I need to change information in my file?
Simply fax your changes to the MHAUS office at 1-607-674-7910 and your record will be modified at no additional charge.
